Account book, 1627-1679, 1708-1718.

The first volume is the original account book kept by Joseph Hills of Malden, Mass. The entries concern business accounts, contracts, transactions, payments and receipts. The account book was continued in the 18th century by Joseph Hills' son, Samuel, who brought the book with him to Leominster from West Newbury in 1774. The entries by Samuel Hills include calculations and figures for church rates, work, dues, etc. in the spaces unused by his father. The second volume is a handwritten transcription of parts of the original record by the Hills Family Genealogical and Historical Association with an introduction William Smith Hills. The transcription was sent to Thomas Hills of Boston, Mass. in 1895.
